I am an artist, jewelry designer, metalsmith and G.I.A. certified gemologist living in Orange County, CA. I studied jewelry design and metalsmithing at California State University - Long Beach and graduated with a BFA in 3D-Media with an emphasis in metal. After graduation, I continued my education at the Gemological Institute of America - Santa Monica and graduated from the resident gemologist program for gemology, colored stone grading, and diamond grading. I have been designing and creating jewelry for 25 years.
I also teach two introductory jewelry classes for the year-round Sawdust Art Class program at the famous Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, now celebrating their 50th anniversary. I started teaching at Sawdust in October of 2010, when the year-round program launched, and I am happy to be associated with such a great community of local artists. For information on classes, please visit the TEACHING page.
My creations are available for purchase by contacting me through the CONTACT page or through the purchase inquiry link on the page for the specific piece. Select creations are also on display and available for purchase at Mobilia Gallery in Cambridge, MA. Please see the GALLERY page for more information about Mobilia Gallery.
"My formal fine art and design education included many traditional mediums such as sculpture, woodworking, drawing, painting, and photography and that diverse experience provided the basis for a unique approach to jewelry design.
Jewelry is wearable art that sends a message of non-verbal communication about the owner. My creations lie at the intersection of storytelling, craftsmanship and technology and feature rich surface patinas, unusual textures, detailed precision, and a wide range of materials. I was highly influenced by three wonderful professors that believed that good design and composition outweigh materials and precious materials alone do not equate value. "
